$100 added to Sprint Invaders winners share by Chucks Small Engine Repair
(Peoria, IL)Peoria Speedway will be a busy place this weekend as the Pro Crate Racers of America Series makes its’ debut at the track this Saturday night, July 30. On Sunday July 31, the 2nd Annual Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips “Sprint Car Summer Shootout”, featuring the Ideal Ready Mix 360 Sprint Invaders Series, will rip around thePeoria high banks.
The Southern Illinois-based PCRA touring series will make its’ debut at the track on Saturday night, paying $1,000 to-win and $100 to start the 25 lap main event. Nick Lyons ofCentralialeads the PCRA points chase heading intoPeoria, with a 24 point lead over the “Undertaker”,Alhambra’s Bobby Dauderman. The Southern Illinois-based Crate Series will be joined on the racing program by UMP Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets.
Sunday night, the 2nd Annual Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips “Sprint Car Summer Shootout” will feature Ideal Ready Mix 360 Sprint Invaders Series. Chuck’s Small Engine Repair has added $100 to the winners’ purse, and a $250 bonus will be given to the fastest 305 in the field. The race was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but rains washed away the program. UMP Modifieds ($800 to-win), Illinois Lightning Sprints, and Hornets will also be racing.
Pit gates will open at 3:30 on Sunday, with grandstands at 4:30. Hot laps will begin at 5:30.
AMA RETURNS AUGUST 19
The AMA All-Star National Flat Track Motorcycle Series will return to Peoria Speedway on Friday, August 19. The June race was a huge hit with fans and competitors, so Promoter Curt Mottaz jumped at the opportunity to join “Grand Nationals Weekend”. The June race at the track featured 106 competitors from 16 states,JapanandAustralia, and the riders raved about racing on thePeoriasurface. It will be the final appearance at Peoria Speedway for AMA legend Chris Carr, who will retire following the 2011 season. The AMA will conclude its’ weekend with the running of the “Budweiser Grand National TT Races” at thePMCRaceParkSunday, August 21.
