Hallelujah the 2012 racing season is finally upon us! The very first race on US soil for dirt late models in 2012, will take place at the 21st annual Ice Bowl in Talladega Alabama.
While the rest of the dirt world starts to take a look at the popular Chili Bowl, the first laps of 2012 will be had at the popular Talladega Short Track. The Super Late Model event pays a modest 6,000 to win but attracts some of the biggest dirt late model drivers in the country every year. Just look at the past winners of this awesome event.

Although it’s called the ICE Bowl because it takes place in January, teams will be greeted by a unusual 60 degree treat. The strange warm weather will stick through the weekend although there is a small chance of rain on Sunday. The popular race kicks off today with open practice. So if your going to be in the area, come on by and watch the first laps of 2012!
