ASHLAND, KY (May 23, 2012) – Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series driver, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY participated in this past weekend’s Bad Boy 98 at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, AR. Steve would win his heat race in Friday Night’s preliminary to earn the outside second row starting spot in the 98-lap event.
In Saturday Night’s main event Steve would run in the top five for a majority of the race and eventually would be credited with an eighth place finish at the end. Steve would jump up one spot in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings as he is now fourth behind Jimmy Owens, Don O’Neal and Scott Bloomquist.
Steve and the Barry Wright Race Team now are preparing this week for the 20th Annual DART Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. Activity will get underway with an open practice session on Thursday Night, May 24th from 6-9 PM. On Friday Night, May 25th will be the Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, Manufacturers Dash and Race of Champions. On Saturday Night, May 26th will be the B-Mains and the 100-lap $30,000 to win main event.
The last time Steve visited Lucas Oil Speedway was last July when he held a straightaway lead over Scott Bloomquist when he suffered driveline failure. Steve hopes this trip will result in his first career DART Show-Me 100 victory to go along with his other crown-jewel event wins, the World 100 and Dirt Track World Championship triumphs.
