DIRTcar Summer Nationals(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) An up-and-down UMP Summer Nationals for the Dennis Erb Racing team netted their best highlights to date last week, as Dennis Erb, Jr. accumulated one victory, two Top Fives, and five Top Tens in a seven-race stretch from July 2-8. Dennis’ first trip to victory lane on the “Hell Tour” this year came last Saturday at the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee. After setting fast time in his group during qualifying and winning his heat race, Dennis led the entire 40-lap distance to pocket the $7,500 top prize over Shannon Babb, Brian Shirley, Tanner English, and Terry English!

Earlier in the week, Dennis posted an impressive runner-up finish on Monday at the Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois. Following a heat race triumph, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace was able to move up a couple of positions in the 40-lap affair to finish second behind only current UMP Summer Nationals point leader Brian Shirley. Dennis also ran strong on Wednesday at the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois (ninth), on Thursday at the Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois (eighth), and on Friday at the Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois (sixth). You can read a detailed race-by-race recap from each of the battles on the “Hell Tour” by logging onto www.denniserb.com.

“We seem to be turning things around and running stronger as the tour continues,” quoted Erb earlier this afternoon. “The Clarksville win on Saturday was huge for our team and hopefully there are a couple more of them in store for us to close out this deal. We had some good runs last week; ran a strong second at Peoria on Monday and then had a fast racecar at Jacksonville on Tuesday before breaking a driveshaft. We’ll just keep plugging away at it and see how we finish up the tour this week.”

This coming week will bring the ultra-popular UMP Summer Nationals tour to a close, as the final five events will be held from July 10-14 in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Following a rare day off yesterday, the action heats back up tonight, July 10 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. You can catch Dennis in action at the following venues this week:

July 10 | Florence (KY) Speedway, UMP SN | $5,000 to win

July 11 | Brushcreek (OH) Motorsports Complex, UMP SN | $5,000 to win

July 12 | Terre Haute (IN) Action Track, UMP SN | $5,000 to win

July 13 | Attica (OH) Raceway Park, UMP SN | $5,000 to win

July 14 | Oakshade (OH) Raceway, UMP SN | $10,000 to win
