NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Practice At BRP Draws 65 Cars

NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model SeriesOCALA, FL – A stellar field of 65 cars took part in practice on Monday night in preparation for the Rock Auto.com Speedweeks Presented By Racecar Engineering for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Touring Series at Bubba Raceway Park. Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA was the fastest, turning a lap in 14.557 seconds in the AES Racing Special.

Austin Kirkpatrick of Ocala, FL was second quick in the Sonny’s Barbeque Special with a time of 14.641, and Canadian driver Jordan Peters was third fastest at 14.803 seconds. Mike Pegher Jr. of Wexford, PA was fourth fastest at 14.837 seconds, and Phillip Pittman of Vidalia, GA was fifth fastest at 14.866 seconds.

Canadian Darren Peters was sixth quick at 14.871 seconds, and Ches Chester of Twin City, GA was seventh fastest at 14.884 seconds, as was Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, SC, also at 14.884 seconds. Brandon Umberger timed in ninth quick at 14.886 seconds, and Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL rounded out the top ten of the practice session at 14.911 seconds.

There were 51 cars of the 65 on the grounds running the electronic timing and scoring transponders. The top 44 cars were separated by less than a second on the Professional Motor Sports Solutions timing and scoring loop.

The Rock Auto.com Speedweeks Presented by Racecar Engineering for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will begin on Tuesday night with the first of five straight nights of racing. Over $70,000 in prize money, point fund money and contingency awards will be up for grabs during the five-race series at Bubba Raceway Park.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series first four races on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night will each be 40-laps and pay $2,000-to-win. The 50-lap finale on Saturday night will pay $3,000-to-win.

For those that would like to keep up with live timing and scoring from Professional Motor Sports Solutions during the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season, there is a new app called Race Monitor that can be downloaded to any i-phone or android device.
