Mid-America Lightning Sprints Presented by Jayhawk Millwright
The racing season is here. It is a little over 30 days until the official start of the 2013 season! Mid-America Lightning Sprints Presented by Jayhawk Millwright was started by two racers, for the racers. Our intent is to give Lightning Sprints opportunities to race for better money in front of large crowds to show what our sport is about. Which are fast affordable open wheel race cars. As owners and fans of this sport we feel it is everyone’s obligation to pursue the same goal. This is to increase awareness through participation! We feel our first race of the season is a big step in that direction.
Our first race is at L.A. raceway in LaMonte MO, dubbed Mid-America Lightning Sprints Presented by Jayhawk Millwright Spring Nationals. The Spring Nationals is our way of starting the season with a BANG!!! This race as with all MALS races are guaranteed $650 to win and $70 to start with great money through out the field. Let me repeat this so everyone knows! ALL Six Mid-America Lightning Sprints Presented by Jayhawk Millwright RACES ARE NOW GUARANTEED $650 to win and $70 to start!! The race date for MALS Spring Nationals is April 13th. Our cars will be supporting W.A.R non winged sprint cars and ASCS warrior 360 sprint cars. This is a great event to attend but much better to participate in! Go to www.laraceway.com for start times. For those who wish to get a head start on car set up L.A. raceway will have an open practice on March 23rd.
The second and sixth race in the Mid-America Lightning Sprints Presented by Jayhawk Millwright year is at Atchison County Raceway in Atchison Kansas. This track is entering its second full year of operation and we are pleased to have two opportunities to show case lightning sprints on this fast high banked race track. The first race of the year is the MALS-Spring Fling on May 4th! The second at this track is the MALS-Fall Bawl on Sept. 7th! With other Lightning Sprint races going on in the Kansas City area this is a great weekend for those of us who like double header weekends! ACR is having several open practice dates. April 5th, April 12 and April 13th. Phil Birkinsha is a very good promoter and I expect great things from this track in the next few years. Go to www.acraceway.com for start times and directions to the track.
Our third and fifth race we will bring our winged show to is Double-X speedway in California Missouri. The race date for the MALS Veterans Salute is May 26th! And his fans will be out in force to remember Jesse and all the hero’s past and present! The fifth date just announced HERE, we will again be back at Double-X speedway which will be our Summer Sizzle race on July 5th. Race date for the MALS Summer Nationals is June 29th. This will be Nevada Speedways 50th year of operations which is a very big milestone for any business. I want to thank them for this chance to be a part of there 50th year celebration. Nevada Speedway has an open practice day and swap meet planned for April 6th. Go to www.nevadaspeedway1.com/ For complete practice times, news and directions to this track.
MALS believes racers from outside our area of operation add to our program and we realize with gas and travel expenses not getting any cheaper, travelers may need some help attending any of the five MALS races. Therefore we have come up with a traveler’s incentive package that will take some of the financial burden off of the car owners. There are limited numbers of these incentive programs so be the first to plan a trip to Middle America. The limited tow money will be handled in this manner. “The first 5 drivers that pre-register for any of the five MALS events of 2013 AND TAKES the green flag in the A Feature of that event with a one way tow of 500 miles or more will be eligible for a $100 tow money award. Actual mileage determined by Google Earth.” If a driver fails to make the A feature the $100 will go to the next driver in line determined by order they preregistered. Preregistration will be done by email only! Please email your name, town and car number to mbillingsracing@gmail.com if you meet the above criteria. We do have two preregistered for the April 13th race, two for the May 4th race and three for the May 26th race. So if you think you may want to come experience an MALS event this season don’t hesitate to drop us an email and reserve your spot for the extra tow money!
