Lucas Oil Late Model Series(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team spent their Memorial Day holiday weekend at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri and the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. The 21st Annual ‘Show-Me 100’ kicked off the weekend from May 23-25 at the pristine 3/8-mile Wheatland facility. On Thursday night, the Lucas Oil MLRA Series presided over a $5,000 to win program. Unfortunately, Dennis suffered mechanical troubles during his heat race and was unable to transfer into the 40-lap feature event.

Preliminary action for the ‘Show-Me 100’ then took place on Friday evening and Dennis timed in nineteenth fastest in Group B during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying before running fifth in his loaded heat race. Following a B-Main triumph on Saturday, Dennis started the $30,000 to win crown jewel event from the outside of the tenth row. The Carpentersville, Illinois standout then helped put on a great show in front of the huge crowd and the multitude of television cameras, as he blasted past seventeen competitors on his way to an impressive podium finish. Dennis crossed underneath the checkers in the third position in the ‘Show-Me 100’ behind only winner Jimmy Owens and runner-up Chris Simpson.

The Dennis Erb Racing team wrapped up their extended weekend on Sunday, May 26 with the annual running of the ‘Budweiser 50′ at Granite City. Dennis posted the sixth quickest time in his group during UMP DIRTcar Series qualifying and later took the win in his heat race. After finishing fourth in the dash, Dennis was able to hang around the top five in the $10,000 to win feature event and eventually garnered a strong fifth place performance. He finished behind only race winner Shannon Babb, Brady Smith, Bobby Pierce, and Tyler Reddick. Full results from the long Memorial Day holiday weekend can be accessed online at www.dirtondirt.com.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take the #28 Dennis Erb Racing team to the states of Tennessee and Kentucky on May 31 and June 1 for a pair of series events, which both pay $10,000 to the winner. The bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee is up first on Friday night with the ‘Toyota Knoxville 50,’ while the 27th Annual ‘Ralph Latham Memorial’ will wrap things up on Saturday evening at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. Both one-day affairs will feature qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and a 50-lap A-Main. Dennis comes into the doubleheader tied for fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
