They call Colona’s Milo Veloz Jr. the “Smooth Criminal” and that’s exactly what he was Sunday night at the Quad City Speedway. Veloz’s was “Smooth” as silk leading every lap of the 30 lap 20th Annual Gary Reinhart Memorial, presented by The Truck Doctor, main event. It was his seventh attempted at the only Modified race that has alluded him at the Quad City Speedway. Veloz timed 10th quickest in time trials and grabbed a second place in his heat race. The invert put Veloz on the pole for feature and that’s all he needed to take home the $2,000 payday. Brock Bauman finished a solid second followed by his brother, Cody Bauman, then Erik Bruce, and Steven Brooks. The quickest lap in the Mr. Fix It Time Trials went to Quincy’s Jake Griffin with a 14.35 and the heat race winners were B. Bauman, Matt Werner and Bruce.

The McDonald’s Mod Lites made their long awaited returned Sunday with Geneseo’s Shon Sanders leading the final 9 laps untouched to pick up the victory. Brad Lucy finished second after coming from the back of the pack with Mike Pershing, Mike Dominguez, and David Norton rounding out the top 5. The heat race winner was Sanders.
