(July 19, 2013) Greenwood, NE – A hot and breezy afternoon gave way to a great evening, as the I-80 Speedway held it’s opening night of activities Thursday, for the third Annual Silver Dollar Nationals. It was a night of testing for the competitors of the Lucas Oil MLRA and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, and did they ever test. A session early in the night gave the crowd a preview of sorts for the weekend. However, it was the final session following the completion of the track’s scheduled program that several drivers found invaluable.

There was a nice showing of Lucas Oil MLRA competitors among the forty plus cars who took to the track. There were twelve drivers in the top twenty points positions, who put their respective hot rods through the paces at I-80 Speedway. They were; Terry Phillips, Tony Jackson Jr., Will Vaught, John Anderson, Travis Dickes, Mark Dotson, Chase Junghans, Tommy Weder Jr., Chad Simpson, Chris Simpson, Justin Zeitner and Bill Leighton.

Tomorrow, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil MLRA will run heat races lined up by pill draw, using the passing points system. Each Late Model competitor will compete in two separate heats on Friday night. The USMTS Modifieds will run a complete show on Friday night, in conjunction with the LOLMDS and MLRA. Then on Saturday night July 20th the Late Models will run B-mains and a Belt Bash Non-Qualifiers Race paying $2,700 to win and $300 to start – to drivers failing to make the feature event. Following the B-Mains and Non-Qualifiers race on Saturday, the stars and cars of the LOLMDS will compete in the 80 lap Silver Dollar Nationals feature event that will pay $27,000 to the winner and $1,300 to start. The USMTS Modifieds will run a full show on Saturday night as well. For tickets and information about I-80 Speedway visit the track website at I-80Speedway.com.

LOLMDS marketing partner Scott Crawford of Crawford Supply/Traeger Grills has posted a special $1,000 cash bonus to the driver that earns the most series points at the Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway on July 13th and the Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway on July 20th.

Fans unable to attend this weekend’s race can access DirtOnDirt.com for a live pay-per-view of the entire weekend.
