Breese IL (Sept 18, 2013) Finding the need to race, young James Edens from California, made the trek this summer to the Midwest to campaign his Crate Late Model. Having raced on the west coast only 12 times in 2012, “The California Flash ” won once at Placerville Speedway plus he had multiple top five finishes thought-out the short Crate Late Model Season in California. Other tracks he raced were Silver Dollar Speedway, Marysville Raceway and Petaluma Speedway, all in California
Moving to the Midwest the 16 year old now has the chance to race every weekend at area tracks. In addition to his UMP Pro Late Model James has been racing a Sport Mod (B-Mod) at The Highland Speedway were recently he earned a come from the back to a top five finish on Championship Night.
Starting at age 5, the young Californian has raced Outlaw Go Karts for over ten years. He’s won 7 Championships at Lakeport, Cycleland and Red Bluff Indoor tracks. He’s accumulated a very impressive 130 Feature victories in those ten years. some of his notable victories were the Wild West Shootout in Montana in 2012 ($2500 to win). This year James came up one place short and finished second against some of the toughest Outlaw Go Karts in the Nation.
In April while making the voyage to the Midwest James made a stop at the Outlaw Go Kart Texas Invitational at the Cactus Speedway where he finished third.
This weekend (Sept. 21) James will expand his racing port folio by jumping behind the wheel of one of Daum Motorsports Midgets as the POWRi Series will be racing at the Macon speedway in Macon IL. Plans include to race the Midget at DuQuoin in December at the indoor speedway on the grounds of the DuQuion State Fair, plus attend the 2014 Chili Bowl in Oklahoma coming up after the first of the year.
His will be heading back to California to compete in Go Kart action at the Red Bluff Speedway before heading back to the Midwest for the POWRi race at DuQuoin.
James travels throughout the nation with his mom K T Mae Edens, who is the owner of A-Main Photography, and is also the track photographer at the Highland Speedway in Highland IL.
