Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Set for Biggest Season Ever in 2014

American Modified SeriesGlasgow, KY- December 22, 2013- Officials with the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series are pleased to announce the race schedule for the 2014 racing campaign, which is set to be the biggest and richest in the history of the tour, which begins its fifth season of competition with the 2014 racing season.

The series will contest eighteen (18) events at twelve (12) different racing venues over the course of the 2014 racing season, with appearances at tracks in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. Of the eighteen events on the schedule, eight of those events will pay at least $3,000 to win and five of those will pay $5,000 to the winner. The 2014 season will be the richest in series as the best Modified pilots in the area will be racing for over $50,000 to win in race prize money over the course of the season.

The 2014 racing season kicks off on Saturday March 1 as the Summit Racing Equipment AMS open wheel warriors make their first-ever appearance at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN as part of the track’s annual Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic, paying $1,500 to win. The month of March concludes four weeks later with a return visit to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN on Saturday March 29 for the track’s 2nd Annual Spring Nationals event, paying $3,000 to win.

The month of April will see three events take place, with the first one coming on Friday April 11 at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH, paying $1,500 to win. The final pair of events in April will be at two tracks that return to the series schedule for the first time since July 2011 when a doubleheader weekend of action will take place on Friday April 25 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN for the J.B. Robinson Memorial, paying $2,000 to win, with Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN set for action the following evening on Saturday April 26, paying $1,500 to win.

The tour will take a short break before presenting its first-ever Memorial Day Trifecta, all in the Land of Lincoln. The first stop of the weekend will be at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL, paying $1,500 to win. The middle stop of the weekend will take place on Saturday May 24 at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL for the inaugural Gary Cook, Jr. Memorial event, paying $2,064 to win. The weekend concludes at a track the series has not visited since the 2010 season when the tour stops at Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, IL for the inaugural Kim Henderson Memorial event, paying $3,000 to win.

The month of June will see only a pair of events take place, but it will be in the form of a doubleshot weekend. On Friday June 20, the tour makes its second visit of the season to Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH, racing for $1,500 to win. The following evening on Saturday June 21, the tour will visit Florence Speedway in Union, KY for a $1,500 to win contest.

As the heat arrives in the month of July, so will the first of five $5,000 to win events scheduled for the season as the tour makes its first-ever appearance at Western Kentucky Speedway in Nebo, KY on Saturday July 12 for a $5,000 to win event. The month concludes with the tour remaining in the western half of the Bluegrass State as the series will visit Cedar Ridge Speedway on Saturday July 26 for the 2nd Annual Hope for Harlie Benefit Race, paying $1,500 to win.

The tour will take another short break prior to its 2nd Annual Land of Lincoln Triple Shot. The weekend of action begins on Friday August 29 at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL for a $3,000 to win contest. On Saturday August 30, action will take place at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL for the 2nd Annual Casey’s Modified Nationals, paying $5,000 to win. The weekend concludes on Sunday August 31 at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, IL with its annual Modified Fall Nationals event, also paying $5,000 to win.

The month of September will see a pair of event in the Western Kentucky for the second time in 2014 as the tour returns to Western Kentucky Speedway on Saturday September 13 for another $5,000 to win event, while the month concludes two weeks later on Saturday September 27 at Cedar Ridge Speedway in Morgantown, KY for $1,500 to win.

The tour concludes its 2014 campaign with one event in the month of October. It will be the series season finale at Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday October 25 as the tour will compete in the 5th Annual Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Championship event, paying $5,000 to win.

The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series is also pleased to announce it will continue its working relationship with the UMP DIRTcar Modified organization, as the UMP DIRTcar organization will have its officials at all events to handle technical inspection of the race cars. Drivers can also earn points toward the UMP DIRTcar Modified national title, along with earning points toward the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series championship title as well.
