DIRTcar(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Jason Riggs returned to action for the first time since the conclusion of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Saturday evening, August 2 at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky. A weekly Super Late Model show was held at KLMS and a $1,000 winner’s check was on the line. Jason notched the second quickest lap during the qualifying session and later started the 15-lap feature from the outside of the front row. After battling for the lead in the early stages of the race, Jason wound up settling for a solid runner-up effort behind only winner Randy Sellars.

Teammate Brian Shirley ventured north to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin from July 31-August 2 for the 27th edition of the ‘USA Nationals,’ which was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. On Thursday evening, Brian won his heat race, but later faded back to twelfth in the caution-free $6,000 to win main event. The Chatham, Illinois ace then unfortunately missed out on making the starting grid for the $50,000 to win ‘USA Nationals’ over the weekend, as he finished fifth in his loaded heat race and eighth in his B-Main. Complete results from KLMS and Cedar Lake can be viewed online at www.klmsllc.com and www.woolms.com.

With Brian Shirley and his #81 team opting to take the August 8-9 weekend off from competition, Jason Riggs will carry the Riggs Motorsports banner alone in a pair of Dirt Late Model events in the states of Illinois and Kentucky. On Friday night, Jason is scheduled to roll into Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois for a $1,200 to win weekly UMP show. The #81jr team will then turn their focus back to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky on Saturday evening, as a $3,000 top prize will be up for grabs at the newly reopened facility.
