American Modified SeriesNebo, KY-September 13, 2014- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series would makes its second of the 2014 to Western Kentucky Speedway in Nebo, KY on Saturday evening and Clayton Miller of Elkton, KY would become the 27th different winner in series history and the ninth different winner of the 2014 season by leading all 40 laps of the event and scoring his richest career payday of $5,000.  Miller would take the win in the Lexington Landscape/Powell’s Transmission/Joe’s Small Engine/C. Blackwell Construction/Dane Elliott Industrial/Wilson Printworks/Fix-It Performance Fabrication sponsored #15 Diamond Race Car sporting a Cox Race Engine.

Clayton Miller would take the lead at the start of the event and after a pair of quick caution flags, Brian Shaw would be in second.  The restart to begin lap 6 would see Shaw slidejob Miller in turn two for the lead momentarily, but Miller would return the favor in turn four and maintain the lead, with Shaw returning serve again in turn two, only to have Miller work back past him in turn three to keep the lead with seven laps complete.  Miller was about to begin the process of lapping slower traffic when a spin by Chad Boone in turn four on lap 15 would give Miller clear track once again.  This restart would see ninth place starter Victor Lee begin to pressure Shaw for the second spot and the leaders would catch slower traffic again on lap 24, with Miller holding the lead and Shaw and Lee battling for second.  Caution would wave again on lap 28 when Shaw would spin his machine in turn four after contact with a slower car, putting Lee in second on the restart, while Tyler Weiss and Lucas Lee, who had recovered from being involved in a tangle on lap 2, would battle for third.  Two more cautions would slow the action and Miller would maintain the lead, with Victor Lee dogging him the entire way, but coming up short and settling for second.  Weiss, Lucas Lee, and 17th starting Jeff Curl would complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the Western Kentucky Speedway A-Main would be 13th starting Jimmy Payne, 15th starting Josh Harris, Darin Obenchain, Brian Shaw (recovering from a spin with 15 laps remaining), and 21st starting Roy Bruce, Jr. The 40 lap, $5,000 to win event would be slowed by eight caution periods.

In preliminary action, Randle Sweeney would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among a field of 23 entries at 17.293 seconds.  Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Jessie Baize, while Brian Shaw scored the win in Wiles Driveshafts heat two.  Hypercoils heat three went to Clayton Miller, with Brandon Green winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four.

The next event for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be on Saturday September 27 at Cedar Ridge Speedway in Morgantown, KY.  The race will be 30 laps in distance and pay $1,500 to win and $200 to start.
