(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) After spending much of his 32 year racing career and capturing numerous crown jewel victories behind the wheel of a GRT racecar, Wendell Wallace will return to his roots and was set to jump back in the seat of the GRT House Car starting this weekend (May 10-11) at the nearby Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas! However, the two-day ‘Bad Boy 98′ at Batesville, which was slated to be sanctioned by the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series, was nixed this morning due to continued inclement weather in the area. Wendell and the late GRT President Joe Garrison had been working on a deal and a new car prior to Joe’s unfortunate passing last week and the Batesville, Arkansas driver is eager to steer the #GRT1 machine.

“Joe (Garrison) was a pivotal part of my racing career and really my life and will continue to be,” quoted Wallace earlier today. “He was a great friend and I’ll always cherish those memories on the road, at the track, and at the shop with Joe. We had a lot of fun times together and had a lot of success – my thoughts are with Katie, his family, and everyone at GRT Race Cars during this difficult time. Joe and I had been working on putting a deal together for the last few months to run select races around here in the House Car again. He wanted to make sure GRT kept diggin’ and that’s exactly what we will do, but unfortunately it won’t be this weekend in the Bad Boy 98 at Batesville.”

While there is no set schedule for Wendell and the House Car team at this time, they will likely enter a variety of local, regional, and national events across the states of Arkansas and Missouri throughout the year. Sponsors for the House Car in 2019 include Hollis Farms, GRT Race Cars, Penske Racing Shocks, Wehrs Machine & Racing Products, Sweet Manufacturing, Wilwood Engineering, Durham Racing Engines, Swift Springs, Wise Excavation LLC, Performance Bodies, Keyser Manufacturing, Safecraft Safety Equipment, Allstar Performance, Winters Performance, QuickCar Racing Products, AFCO Cooling, FK Rod Ends, Hooker Harness, Butlerbuilt Seats, DRP Performance Products, Fuel Safe, and Delph Communications.

Wendell, who was recently inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in 2018, is a former three-time ‘Show-Me 100’ winner (2007, 2006, & 2002), two-time ‘Masters 100’ winner (2003 & 1999), ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ winner (2000), ‘Topless 100’ winner (1998), and ‘Hav-A-Tampa Shootout’ winner (1996). The popular driver known as the “Batesville Bullet” amassed 26 career Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series victories, which was good for fourth most all-time behind only Scott Bloomquist, Dale McDowell, and Billy Moyer.
