(Warrensburg, Missouri) After a whirlwind week of revising the weekend’s race program, Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) and staff welcomed drivers and fans for Father’s Day Weekend racing at the track with 54 race teams on hand for competition.

Throughout the night, 16 B-Mods, 17 Super Stocks, 13 Midwest Mods, and 8 Pure Stocks competed for CMS Track Points and POWRi National Series points during 9 preliminary heat races and four main events.

POWRi B-Mods – 16 Entries

For the B-Mod 20-lap main event, Terry Schulz started side-by-side with Jake Richards at the drop of the initial green flag. A quick yellow flag slowed the field at lap three with Schultz leading Richards, Jeremy Lile, Sturgis Streeter, and Steve Clancy. Schultz was quick on the restart and resumed his place at the front of the field with Richards and Streeter close for second by lap ten. By the lap 15 marker, Streeter had made his way to second place ahead of Richards and Lile. Streeter searched the track surface for a way to gain on Schultz but was unable to find a preferred line to gain on the leader as Schultz ultimately went on to collect his 83rd career CMS victory over Streeter, who had to settle for the runner-up position. Richards held strong to take the third spot with Lile fourth, Clancy Fifth, and fifteenth-starting Michael Taylor, who advanced to sixth.

Jay Prevete was in search of his second victory of the season at the onset of the 20-lap Super Stocks main event as he and Nick Gibson started at the front of the field. Prevete quickly established a fast line around the speedway to take the early race lead over Aaron Poe, Gibson, and Chris Brockway. Two yellow flags slowed the race at the line 6 and 8 markers, while Prevete led Poe, Gibson, Rodger Detherage and Brockway for a lap-nine restart. At lap 15, the top three distanced themselves from the rest of the field, leaving Marc Carter and Detherage in a tight battle for fourth. Upon nearing the completion of the race, Prevete continued to fend off the strong challenges of Poe, and kept his machine out front through two attempts at a green, white, and checkered-flag finish. In the end, Prevete prevailed over Poe to collect his second victory of the season with Poe settling for second. Marc Carter advanced from sixth to take the third spot with Detherage strong in fourth. Chris Brockway and Cory Flamm both turned in season best performances with their fifth and sixth-place finishes in the final rundown.

‘Movin’ Dave Meyer and David Wood occupied the front row for the 20-lap Midwest Mods main event for an all “Dave/David” front row. Wood flexed his muscle at the drop of the green flag to claim the early race lead over Meyer, point’s leader Dustin Dennison, and Logan Rash in the race’s early stages. A lone yellow flag flew over the field at lap five, with Wood leading Dennison and Meyer for the restart. Although it looked like Dennison was reeling in the leader, Wood kept his #82 machine out front as sixth-starting Kenny Prince joined the battle at the front of the field. Prince moved into second by lap 15 behind Wood as Shaunie Lanning moved into the top three. Prince did all he could to get closer to the leader, but it was not meant to be on this night as Wood went on to collect his first-ever feature-race win in his 25-year racing career. In victory lane, Wood thanked his family for all their support as the crowd enthusiastically cheered him on for his accomplishment. Prince turned in a CMS best finish of second by race end with Logan Rash also scoring a strong finish of third. Cold Ryun was consistent throughout the event to take home fourth with Dave and Brian Meyer finishing fifth and sixth respectively.

POWRi Pure Stocks – 8 Entries
Heat 1 – 8 Laps – 4:22.710:  1. 7-Spencer Reiff[2]; 2. 216-Payton McDowell[4]; 3. 90-Terry Moss[1]; 4. M87-Mallory Stiffler[6]; 5. 403-Darrin Christy[3]; 6. 89-Jonathan Evans[7]; 7. 5-Justin McDowell[5]; 8. 14-Ricky Tanner[8]

Spencer Reiff of Kansas City and Tuscumbia, Missouri driver Payton McDowell started the night’s 15-lap Pure Stock main event from row one with Reiff establishing himself as the early race leader. McDowell hunted for a better groove on the track on several occasions as Reiff kept this machine out front through the first seven laps of the race. When the lead duo crossed the line on lap eight, McDowell found himself at the helm with Reiff in second. Jonathan Evans methodically made his way forward from his sixth starting position to move into the mix near the front of the field in third place. Meanwhile Terry Moss and Justin McDowell raced hard for the fourth position. McDowell began to distance himself from Reiff in the race’s closing laps, and eventually captured his second CMS victory of the year. Reiff finished second on this night with Evans third. Justin McDowell found a fast line by the end of the race to move from seventh to fourth in the final rundown with Terry Moss and Mallory Stiffler
