World of Outlaws Late Model Series(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Brian Birkhofer picked up his third feature win and his biggest payday to date this year over the July 20-21 weekend at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska, as he banked $26,000 for winning the 2nd Annual ‘Silver Dollar Nationals!’ In Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series preliminary action on Friday night, Brian won both of his heat races in the unique format to land the pole position for Saturday’s 80-lap main event.

In front of a huge crowd, Brian led on three different occasions early in the ‘Silver Dollar Nationals’ before taking the point for good on lap eleven. The Muscatine, Iowa ace then led the remainder of the distance on his way to the $26,000 triumph over Scott Bloomquist, Steve Francis, Jimmy Owens, and Don O’Neal. Full results from I-80 can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

“It feels good to get one of these big, high-profile wins again,” quoted Birkhofer this week via telephone. “Our program has made some large strides over the past month or so and hopefully that continues throughout the big money races coming up on our schedule. I can’t thank Zack and T-Ray enough for all of their help, along with all of my great sponsors, fans, and family. I also want to thank the Kosiski’s for putting on a spectacular show. The Silver Dollar Nationals is only going to grow and grow in my opinion and I look forward to heading out there each year!”

The Birkhofer Racing team will take the July 27-28 weekend off to prepare for the upcoming ‘USA Nationals.’ The three-day extravaganza next weekend (August 2-4) at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin will be kicked off by a $5,000 to win Corn Belt Clash show on Thursday night. From there, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will roll into CLS to sanction the prestigious ‘USA Nationals.’ Preliminary action will take place on Friday night, while the weekend will be headlined by the $50,000 to win main event on Saturday evening. Brian is a two-time winner of the ‘USA Nationals,’ as he took home victories back in 2007 and 2004. Additional information can be accessed by clicking on www.cedarlakespeedway.com.
