(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team has made the trek to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky for this weekend’s 30th Annual ‘North/South 100.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over the crown jewel extravaganza, which boasts a hefty $50,000 top prize. Qualifying is set to take place tonight at the King family 1/2-mile complex, while heat races, consolation events, and the ‘North/South 100’ are slated for Saturday evening, August 11. Billy Moyer, who is not a frequent visitor to Florence, last competed in a ‘North/South 100’ feature event back in 2009, as he finished eighth in the final rundown. Billy is fresh off a pair of top five efforts in the Hawkeye State of Iowa earlier this week. On Monday night, August 6 at the Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, Iowa, Billy ran fourth in heat race action to earn the thirteenth starting spot in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series main event. During the course of the $10,000 to win, 50-lap feature, Billy picked off eight competitors on his way to a strong fifth place performance behind only winner Darrell Lanigan, Clint Smith, Don O’Neal, and Rick Eckert.
At the West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, Iowa on Tuesday evening, August 7, another $10,000 winner’s check was on the line in a ‘Tornado Tuesday’ program. Billy started the 50-lap A-Main from the inside of the sixth row and blasted past eight more cars en route to a sterling third place run. “Mr. Smooth” followed only winner Brian Birkhofer and runner-up Chad Simpson to the checkers at West Liberty.
