Winged Sprint Cars Return To Springfield Raceway Saturday Night For Octoberfast

Springfield RacewaySpringfield, Mo. Winged Sprint Cars are returning to the “Quick-Quarter” of the Springfield Raceway Saturday Night as the Lucas Oil ASCS 360 Warrior and Sooner Regions go head to head at Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland’s racy high-banked quarter mile dirt oval in the Budweiser Sponsored Octoberfast Event.

This is the first head to head meeting in 2012 for the 2 Regional Series as points are on the line for both the Warrior and Sooner Regions as drivers from Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and the ASCS Central area are expected.

Last season it was the Sooner Region who came out on top of the battle at Springfield where the Sprint Cars can turn laps in 11 seconds as Brian McClelland took home the win over Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell.

Heading into this Saturday’s Races, Matt Covington of Oklahoma heads the points for the Sooner Region while Nixa driver Kyle Bellm holds a slim lead over Cornell. This stop in Springfield will decided the Sooner title, while the Warrior region will have 1 more race to go.

In addition to the Winged Sprints, the Budweiser Octoberfast will feature USRA Modifieds in a $500 to win and $100 to start feature with USRA National Points awarded, USRA B Modifieds competing in a $300 to win and $40 to start feature with USRA National Points also awarded. Midwest modz battle in a $150 to win and $30 to start feature while area Pure Stocks go head to head along with the Factory and Street Stock Classes. Those classes will need to bring their home track rules to compete with or run under Springfield Rules.

Grandstand gates open at 4PM with hot laps starting at 5PM and Racing action gets underway at 6PM.

Grandstand Admission is only $20 for Adults in this only appearance by the winged Sprint Cars this season. Kids prices are $5 for 6-12 with under 6 Free.

The Pit Gates open at 3PM with local drivers meeting at 4:40 and drivers draw cut-off at 5:15. Drivers arriving after cut off time will start tailback but not receive any passing points in their heat.
