World of Outlaws Late Model Series(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) Rick Eckert’s 2012 Dirt Late Model win total now stands at five following a pair of high-profile victories from October 4-6 in the states of New York and Pennsylvania! Last Thursday night, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series took the #24 team to the Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, New York for an event that was part of NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week. Rick set fast time of the 25 entrants in attendance during qualifying, won his heat race, and later grabbed the lead on lap eleven of the feature after starting third. “Scrub” then dominated the remainder of the 50-lapper to win by 5.529 seconds over Shane Clanton, Darrell Lanigan, Vic Coffey, and Bub McCool. Rick earned $11,150 for his efforts in winning for the second straight year at Rolling Wheels!

Following a day off on Friday, the Rick Eckert Racing team was back at it again on Saturday evening at the Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. The 1/2-mile oval played host to the annual ‘Fall Classic’ for the Super Late Models and 22 entries were on hand for the unsanctioned event. Rick set a New Track Record during the qualifying session and later placed second in his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the third row in the 30-lap feature event, Rick drove to the front and grabbed the point on lap eighteen. The York, Pennsylvania standout then led the remainder of the distance to capture the $5,000 top prize over Jeff Rine, Jason Covert, Dan Stone, and Dylan Yoder! Full results from both of these races can be obtained by pointing your web browser to www.dirtondirt.com.

“It was an excellent weekend for us, one of those weekends that you strive for every time you leave the shop,” quoted Eckert yesterday via telephone. “Those are two places (Rolling Wheels and Selinsgrove) that I have a pretty good track record at and it was great to run well once again at both tracks. That Rolling Wheels is quickly becoming my favorite racetrack in the country. I think we have run like four times there and have a couple of wins and a couple of runner-ups. I just have to thank everyone that is associated with this race team and hopefully we can perform well this week at Charlotte and Hesston.”

Up next for the #24 team will be the ‘Circle K World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown’ tonight, October 10 at the pristine Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina. The traditional midweek event, which kicks off Bank of America 500 week at Charlotte Motor Speedway across the street, boasts a $10,000 winner’s check. Rick and the team will then turn their focus to a pair of United Late Model Series (ULMS) programs this weekend (October 12-13) at the Hesston Speedway in Hesston, Pennsylvania. A total of $14,044 is up for grabs at Hesston in the annual ‘Ultimate’ weekend. Additional information on both venues can be viewed by clicking on www.worldofoutlaws.com and www.unitedlatemodelseries.com.
