Dirt Track World Championship - DTWCHazard, Kentucky (10/18/12) – Enjoying a rare off weekend from the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Eric Wells powered his #18 Wells Motorsports/Bloomquist/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model to a second place finish in the annual Fall 50 at Florence Speedway on Saturday night.

The annual Fall 50 was held on Saturday night at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) as twenty-seven Super Late Model competitors converged on the 1/2 mile oval for the unsanctioned event. With a $5,000 winner’s check on the line Eric began his night by finishing third in his heat race. Via passing points he locked into the third starting spot for the main event and would battle in the top five throughout the feature before crossing the finish line in the second spot behind race winner, Kent Robinson. Full results are available at www.FlorenceSpeedway.com .

This weekend, October 19th-20th, Wells will resume action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) as he pursues the biggest win of his career with the $50,000-to-win, 32nd Annual Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth Raceway (Portsmouth, Ohio). In 2010 Wells knocked on the door of the biggest win of his career in a $20,000-to-win event at the 3/8 mile oval, but a flat tire with just a few laps remaining erased his chances. He will look for redemption this weekend. Qualifications and heat race action will be contested on Friday night, while Saturday’s program will be headlined by b-mains, a non-qualifier race, and the coveted finale.
