Ray Cook Eyes Trip to Duck River on Heels of National 100

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The D&R Motorsports team and driver Ray Cook continued their 2012 journey on November 10-11 at the East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. The 38th edition of the ‘National 100’ took place over the weekend at EAMS and a whopping $20,000 payday was on the line in the unsanctioned Super Late Model program. During preliminary action on Saturday, Ray timed in third quickest of the 35 entrants during qualifying and later took the win in his loaded heat race.

After rolling off from the inside of the second row in the 100-lapper on Sunday, Ray ran third early in the race before a flat right front tire sent him pitside for the attention of the #53 crew. The Brasstown, North Carolina driver returned to the speedplant and rallied all the way back up to fifth in the running order before a broken transmission eventually caused him to retire in the seventeenth spot. Ray also entered the Crate Late Model portion of the ‘National 100′ weekend and qualified sixth fastest prior to posting a fifth place performance in the $5,000 to win A-Main. Next up for Ray and the #53 team will be a trip on November 16-17 to the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee. The inaugural running of the ‘Deep Fried 75’ will take place at DRRP this weekend and a $10,000 winner’s check will be up for grabs. Super Late Model qualifying and heat races are slated for Friday night, while the consolation races and the 75-lap feature event are scheduled for Saturday evening.
