Eldora SpeedwayOpportunity is defined in the dictionary as ‘a combination of favorable circumstances’. Eldora Speedway’s renovated and unique format for the 19th annual Dirt Late Model Dream by Ferris Commercial Mowers weekend exemplifies that definition.

Over the course of three nights, June 6, 7 and 8, prize money totaling $304,575 has been posted; with multiple opportunities for drivers to grab a share of the loot and get on the famed Eldora Speedway Victory Stage. A combination of the ‘new (Thursday and Friday format) and the old (traditional Saturday format) will provide the race fans will full programs of racing each night, while for the drivers there will be seven stage prospects with lucrative prize money. Additionally, each of the seven featured events will afford drivers valuable points towards the cumulative UMP DIRTcar 2013 championship title.

Twin 25-lap A-Feature events will highlight the Thursday and Friday menus; giving 48 drivers a chance to chase for the trophy each night. Following the multi-car time trial runs those nights, the field will be split into two groups – even and odd qualifiers; with each group running a full program of Heat Races, B-Features and a 25-lap finale. Under that design, there will be two $2,500 to win A-Features on Thursday and two $5,000 to win A-Features on Friday. Adding importance to the time trial runs is that fact that a driver’s fastest qualifying lap from Thursday or Friday will be used for line-up purposes on Saturday.

Saturday’s format will follow the long-established pattern of six 15-lap Heat Races, a C-Feature, B-Feature and the 100-lap Dirt Late Model Dream; with the C and B Scrambles, as introduced last year, added in. The Heats, C and B-Features, along with four time trial provisional positions, will be used to fill the 28-car starting field for the Dream and the pursuit of the $100,000 winner’s payoff and Ferris Commercial Mowers trophy; while the two five-lap Scrambles will provide two opportunities to grab $1,000 paychecks, trophies and UMP DIRTcar points.

With a potential of 31 events and 567 laps of green flag racing on the slate, the appetite of race fans will be whetted, while the driver’s quest for valuable Eldora track time will be fulfilled.
