Eldora Speedway(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Muscatine, Iowa standout Brian Birkhofer made a last minute decision to travel to the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday, June 1 for a $1,200 to win regular weekly UMP show. Trying some new things on his newest MB Customs mount, Brian laid down the quickest lap during the qualifying session and later placed fifth in the dash. After rolling off from the inside of the third row in the A-Main, Brian moved all the way up to second to finish a close runner-up behind only race winner Mark Burgtorf. “It was kind of a throwback night for us and really reminded me of how I used to go to Burlington all the time on an open trailer,” quoted Birkhofer, who used Terry Neal’s truck and trailer to get to the races. “After the weather at Florence looked bleak, I decided to just take the weekend off all together, but Terry came by the shop and offered the ride to Burlington if we wanted to race. I had some new things I wanted to try to the car after it kinda struggled over the Memorial Day weekend and we were able to get it a lot better. I have to thank Terry for lending us his truck and trailer, as well as Brian and Gage for their help on the racecar Saturday at 34 Raceway.”

Brian and his #15b team will now turn their sole focus to the 19th Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ by Ferris Commercial Mowers. The Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will once again play host to the sport’s richest first place prize on Saturday, June 8, as a $100,000 paycheck will be in the balance. However, in a new twist, Twin 25 lap feature events will be held on both Thursday ($2,500 to win each) and Friday ($5,000 to win each) leading up to Saturday’s normal format. The three-day crown jewel extravaganza on June 6-8 now boasts a potential 31 races and 567 laps, with a posted payoff of $304,575.00.
