Lucas Oil Late Model SeriesBatesville, Arkansas (12/17/13) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) held their 2013 Night of Champions banquet on Thursday, December 12th, and during the festivities Billy Moyer Jr. was crowned the JRI Shocks Rookie of the Year presented by Dunn Benson Ford.

The 2013 season found Billy competing at dozens of new tracks, and while much of the season definitely proved to be a struggle Moyer Jr. registered some strong runs and learned a great deal along the way.

“It sure wasn’t easy, but I learned so much as a driver this season,” notes Moyer Jr. “To be on the road racing with some of the sport’s all time greatest every night just teaches you so much. Guys like Jimmy (Owens), (Steve) Francis, and (Earl) Pearson Jr. really helped me a lot this year, and I can’t thank them enough.”

Moyer Jr. also finished 9th in the final LOLMDS standings, and during his award’s acceptance speech he was quick to thank all of his supporters.

“Without all of my great sponsors, this just could not have been possible. I also have to thank my crew guy Grizz (Heath Grizzle). He’s about 110 pounds soaking wet, but he’s busted his tail all year to keep this car in top shape. I also want to thank my family and friends for standing behind me, when I needed it the most.”

Billy now turns his attention to the 2014 season, which will open in January with events in Arizona and Texas with the NDRL as he pilots his #21jr Sparks Motorsports/Crop Production Services/NXS Power Line/Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn/Pro Power Racing Engine entry . From there he will set his sights on his sophomore season on the LOLMDS tour, which will begin February 6th-8th at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Georgia) before moving to East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) for the 38th Annual Winter Nationals, which will be held February 9th-15th.
