kentucky-lake-motor-speedwayCALVERT CITY, Ky. – Billy Moyer Jr., a decisive winner in two previous appearances in special events at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway this year, led all the way and won Saturday night’s 35-lap Late Model feature and the $3,000 first-place prize money that went with it.

Moyer won by more than four seconds over Terry English, a two-time winner at KLMS this season.

In the Pro (Crate) Late Model 20-lap main event, Jeff Glisson scored a similarly dominant win, but in Modified and Stock Car, Bart Richardson and Mike Hodges had to fight for their victories.

Moyer, of Batesville, Arkansas, jumped ahead at the drop of the green flag. Kevin Cole squeezed inside outside-front-row starter Tanner English, and their side-by-side duel cost both them as Terry English, Tanner English’s father, got past both them and set out in pursuit of Moyer.

Terry English, a veteran hometown driver from Benton, Kentucky, whittled Moyer’s lead from nearly three seconds down to just over two seconds at the midway point, and when Moyer encountered lapped traffic at lap 20, English narrowed the gap to 0.665 seconds.

But that was as close as he got, and Moyer pulled away to win by more than four seconds. Terry English was second, and Cole got past Tanner English on the 10th lap and held onto third place to the finish. Jarryd Holshouser rounded out the top five.

In the $1,500-to-win Stock Car feature, four drivers took turns at the head of the pack. Hodges wrested command away from Dale Nelson on the eighth lap and fought off the challenges of Nelson the final 12 laps.

Nelson was second, followed by Joel Landers and Mike Lentz. Chase Estes was fifth.

In the Modified feature, Paul Miles led the first 13 laps from the pole before Josh Tomlin reeled him in and prevailed after a three-lap side-by-side duel.

Richardson worked his way from fifth starting spot and was running third, challenging Miles for the runner-up spot, when Tomlin brushed the wall in Turn 2 of the 16th lap. Richardson got past both Miles and Tomlin and led the rest of the way in the 20-lap race. Tomlin hung onto second place, with Miles third. Rocky Wilson and Jeff Elliott were fourth and fifth.

In the Crate main, Glisson fended off an early challenge from Tait Davenport before pulling away to his second win of the season. Troy English was third behind Glisson and Davenport.
