The ‘Kentucky Colonel’ has a busy three-week stretch of racing in the Southeast ahead of him, beginning with the inaugural $10,000-to-win ‘Winter Freeze’ dirt Late Model event on Thursday night (Feb. 3) at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga. He then will head to Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga., for the two-night ‘Super Bowl of Racing’ on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 4-5) and enter at least the final four evenings of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Winternationals that runs from Feb. 7-12 at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla.
Francis will close out his road trip by competing in all six nights of the DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. – a meet that includes DIRTcar UMP-sanctioned Late Model events on Feb. 14, 15, 16 and 18 and the season-opening World of Outlaws Late Model Series shows on Feb. 17 and 19.
The veteran standout from Ashland, Ky., has arranged a deal to pilot Indiana driver Chad Stapleton’s brand-new Barry Wright Chassis mount in the races at Screven, Golden Isles and East Bay. He will debut his own Valvoline-sponsored No. 15 machines – one a new Barry Wright-built car and the other a six-race-old Wright vehicle he brought out late last season – in the DIRTcar Nationals at the half-mile Volusia oval.
