HIghland SpeedwayHighland IL (July 25, 2011) – Celebrating 50 years of racing and tradition this season at the Highland Speedway, the Madison County Fair race holds the honor as the longest running big event at the track.

With a history of drawing some of the biggest name drivers in the Midwest, names such as Ed Dixon, Mark Gansmann, Shannon Babb, Jason Feger, Kevin Weaver, Randy Korte, Rodney Melvin, Mark Faust, Paul Bailey, Chad Zobrist, the list goes on and on have raced at this prestigious event.

This Wednesday evening the tradition returns to the Speedway as its fair week in Madison County. In between all the events that make a Midwestern fair a fun and exciting event the UMP event brings to the “arena” wheel to wheel dirt track racing. The Becker Jewelers UMP Late Models will be competing for $3000 first place prize money. This kind of purse will likely draw a few of the aforementioned drivers.

Also on the card for the evening are the UMP Sportsmen, UMP Factory Stocks and the Kidz Mods.

The nights events start with the pit gates opening at 3pm, grandstand at 5:30 P.M. and racing to get underway at 6:30pm. Admissions are $20 for Adults, Box seats – $25, Children – $10, Kids under 7 – free and Pits – $35. Pits open at 3:00 P.M. racing starts at 6:30 P.M.
