ULMA - United Late Model AssociationQuincy, Illinois (08/31/11) –12 year-old, Jake Griffin scored his fourth straight ULMA Late Model win of the season over the weekend, and also clinched the Callaway Raceway (Fulton, Missouri) Track Championship.

Friday night was a big night for Jake as he clinched the ULMA Late Model Track Championship at Callaway Raceway (Fulton, Missouri) as well as the ULMA Late Model Rookie of the Year honors for the track. He clinched the title on the heels of a fifth to second place run in the ULMA feature behind race winner, Jason Bodenhammer.

In the UMP Open Wheel Modified division his night would not go as well as the team had to change the transmission after heat race action. After starting at the back of the feature he was up to the seventh position, when more issues struck bringing his night to an early end. Full results are available at www.CallawayRaceways.com.

Saturday night marked Jake’s seventh win of the 2011 season as he topped the ULMA Late Model Series event at Scotland County Speedway (Memphis, Missouri). The win further padded his advantage in the ULMA national standings.

It would also be another solid outing in the UMP Open Wheel Modified division for Griffin as he raced his way to a second place finish at the checkered flag. For full results please visit www.ScotlandCountySpeedway.com.

Jake concluded another three day weekend on Sunday night at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) with a UMP Open Wheel Modified Weekly Racing Series Event. Fifteen entries were on hand for the program, and after finishing sixth in his heat race, Griffin started 12th on the grid for the feature event. Midway through the feature Jake had worked his way up to the sixth position, when a restart saw a car in front of Griffin have motor issues. Jake would get on the brakes to avoid the slowing car, which allowed several cars to slip past him. After slipping to the 14th position, he would recover to a 9th place finish.
