(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team returned back to their Batesville, Arkansas race shop earlier this week following a phenomenal “Speedweeks 2011” in the Sunshine State of Florida. Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer entered ten high-profile Dirt Late Model events from February 10-19 at both the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida and the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. Billy racked up three victories during his stint down south along with six Top Five finishes and seven Top Ten performances.
At East Bay during the ‘Winternationals,’ Billy claimed a $5,000 daytime win on February 11 and also recorded a strong runner-up effort in the $12,000 to win finale on February 12 behind only winner Tim McCreadie. The #21 team really turned up the heat on the competition at Volusia during the 40th Annual ‘DIRTcar Nationals,’ as Billy picked up $7,000 and $10,000 UMP triumphs. “Mr. Smooth” also nearly won the finale at VSP on Saturday, February 19, as he led the first thirty circuits of the $10,000 to win affair before lapped traffic had a hand in dropping him to a third place finish.
Following the stellar start to his 2011 campaign, Billy’s win total now stands at six with victories at three different venues in Arizona and Florida. A complete race-by-race recap from “Speedweeks 2011” is chronicled online at www.BillyMoyer.com.
The #21 team has opted to take this upcoming weekend (February 25-27) off from Dirt Late Model competition. Billy will instead attend the funeral service of long-time sponsor and friend Johnny Johnson in Iowa. The entire Billy Moyer Racing team mourns the loss of Johnny and sends their condolences to the Johnson family and everyone at J&J Steel. Billy’s next scheduled event is the $20,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series show at the Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on March 18-19.
