Despite Mother Nature’s fury, the Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA drivers were able to compete in the second sanctioned race of the season last weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway.  There were 26 late models on hand, 20 of which were member drivers.  Larry Jones became the first member driver to claim a ULMA feature win over a strong field of cars.  According to Lucas Oil Speedway, Jones, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, earned the pole position by virtue of earning the most passing points in his heat race.  Despite multiple restarts, Jones never looked back and held off Odessa, Missouri’s Steven Clancy for his first-ever ULMA win.  Defending track champion, Tommy Cordray of Browning, Missouri finished third followed by Rylan Long and Chris Hawkins.  Week two for Lucas Oil Speedway takes place this Saturday night, be sure to visit www.lucasoilspeedway.com for complete details.

Both Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri and Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Missouri were unable to host their race programs due to wet conditions.  Callaway Raceway action resumes Friday, April 22.  Visit www.callawayraceways.com for details.  Scotland County Speedway will try for the third time on Saturday, April 23 to open its 2011 season.  For a full rundown of scheduled events, visit www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com.   Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri is also scheduled to start their race season this Saturday, speedway info may be found at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

Driver membership fees remain at just $50 to chase the guaranteed end-of-year Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce point fund.  Drivers may download the membership form from the ULMA web site at www.ulmaracing.com and mail it in with payment to save time on paperwork at the tracks.  Drivers will keep their 15 best accumulated finishes from the season to count toward the title of ULMA Champion.  There are right around 80 points-earning races remaining for 2011.
