World of Outlaws Late Model Series(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA)  “Scrub” Rick Eckert scored his second World of Outlaws Late Model Series triumph in as many weeks, as he reached victory lane on Thursday night, May 12 at the Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Delaware!  Rick laid down the fifteenth quickest lap during the qualifying session and later finished second in heat race action.  After redrawing the number two pill prior to the start of the 50-lapper, Rick rolled off from the outside of the front row and paced the stout field from flag-to-flag.  The York, Pennsylvania native recorded the dominating $10,000 win over Darrell Lanigan, Tim McCreadie, Josh Richards, and Jason Covert!

Following a day off on Friday, the #24 team was slated to follow the World of Outlaws Late Model Series trail to the Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Virginia on Saturday evening, May 14.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature ruled the day and wet weather postponed the one-day program to Saturday, June 18.  Rick still leads the WOOLMS point battle following his win at DIS last Thursday.  Full results can be viewed online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.

“We didn’t unload very good at Delaware, but I was proud of our team that we kept chipping away at it and by the time the feature rolled around, we had a really fast racecar,” exclaimed Eckert following the weekend.  “To win a couple of these World of Outlaws races the past couple of weekends and to have the point lead right now is awesome, but there is still a long way to go in the season.  We have to keep working hard and hopefully there are some more wins around the corner!”

The Rick Eckert Racing team is scheduled to take the upcoming May 20-21 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition.  Their next events will be over the Memorial Day holiday weekend at the Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Virginia (May 27) and the Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland (May 28).  Both area venues will play host to Three State Flyers shows that will pay $3,000 each to the winner.  You can view Rick’s upcoming schedule online at www.rickeckertracing.com.
