Malden, Missouri (08/27/11) – Rodney Melvin stormed past Wendell Wallace late in the 35 lap feature to claim his first career COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) win on Saturday night at Malden Speedway (Malden, Missouri).

Twenty-seven Super Late Models entered the $2,000-to-win event for the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series on Saturday night, and Wendell Wallace looked to be an odds-on-favorite to claim his second tour win in as many nights by claiming the JFR Graphics Pole Position for the main event. Wallace was joined on the front row by Dewaine Hottinger, and it would the #88 entry of Wallace who took control of the lead at the drop of the green flag.

As Wallace enjoyed a comfortable advantage throughout the first half of the event there was a storm brewing behind him as sixth starting, Rodney Melvin was on the move as he was working his way to the front of the pack. As the race neared it’s late stages Melvin would move into the second spot as he set his sights on the leader, and on lap 29 he would drive past Wallace to claim the top spot.

Melvin would go on to lead the final 6 laps on his way to the win, which came over Wallace, Todd Hall, Jon Mitchell, and Jeff Floyd. Rounding out positions six through ten were Brandon Smith, Dane Dacus, Dewaine Hottinger, Kyle Beard, and Allen Murray

The Rocket Chassis First Heat was won by Dane Dacus with Wendell Wallace winning the RacingJunk.com Second Heat Race, while Dewaine Hottinger won the Woodco, Inc. Third Heat Race, and Jon Mitchell scored the win in the Racing Head Service Fourth Heat Race.
