Columbus, Mississippi (04/11/12) – Magnolia Motor Speedway is set to host one of the biggest events in the history of the facility this weekend, April 12th-14th, with the inaugural Spring Throw Down, which will be headlined by two huge shows and $10,000 possible to win for Super Late Models plus big money for the local divisions. As if a total weekend purse in excess of $60,000 wasn’t enough, perfect weather is in the forecast for all three days.

Promoters, Johnny Stokes and Dewitt Singleton, have culminated to present the inaugural Spring Throw Down at the state-of-the-art, Magnolia Motor Speedway. The Super Late Model event is highlighted by a $2,000-to-win event on Friday night, April 13th and an $8,000-to-win event on Saturday night, April 14th.

Stokes notes, “We originally just thought about having a two day, $10,000-to-win show, but we decided that in this day and time drivers would rather have a chance to make money each night, and clearly fans would rather see a complete program each night. As a result, Dewitt (Singleton) and myself came up with this event. From the feedback we’ve had so far it looks like a lot of drivers and fans like the idea and plan to be here.”

NeSmith Late Models, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks will also be contesting complete shows each night with increased purses. Weekly points will be in effect for these divisions for both nights.

Drivers from at least eight states are expected for this weekend’s events as some of the top national, regional, and local drivers are planning to attend either one night or both nights of the event.

The two day extravaganza, which will pay out over $40,000 in total purse to the Super Late Model division begins on Thursday, April 12th with an Open Practice from 7pm-10pm.

On Friday, April 13th a $2,000-to-win/$125-to-start, 25 lap event will be held for the Super Late Model division. NeSmith Late Models will battle for $700-to-win, Street Stocks will be in action for $400-to-win, and Mini Stocks will race for $225-to-win. The pit gates opens at 3pm with the grandstands opening at 5pm. Driver’s meeting is slated for 6pm with racing action at 7pm.

Saturday, April 14th will be headlined by an $8,000-to-win/$400-to-start, 50 lap event for the Super Late Model class, while the NeSmith Late Models will be racing for $1,000-to-win. Street Stocks will race for $500-to-win, and Mini Stocks will battle for $300-to-win. On Saturday the pit gate opens at 2pm with the grandstands opening at 4pm. The driver’s meeting is at 5:15pm with racing action at 6pm.

The entry fee for Super Late Models is $50 for Friday and $100 for Saturday. If a driver is present both nights the entry fee is only $125 for the weekend. There is no entry fee for local divisions. Transponders are required for Super Late Models and NeSmith Late Models, and may be rented for $20 for the weekend.

Adult grandstand admission is $35 for a two day pass. Thursday night admission to the grandstands is free. On Friday night adult grandstand admission is $15 and on Saturday night it is $25. Kids 10 and under are free in the grandstands on Friday night, and on Saturday night (ages 6-10) are $5 with ages 5 and under free.

Three day pit passes are available for $75 and two day pit passes are available for $65. On Thursday night pit admission is $20. On Friday and Saturday night adult pit admission is $35 with kids (6-10 years of age) $25, and 5 and under free.
