Ponderosa SpeedwayJunction City, KY-May 19, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway would present the second half of its weekend doubleheader of dirt track racing with the 13th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial and Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would become the third multi-time winner of this event with a dominating victory in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Model action to pick up a $1,500 payday.  Other feature winners included Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in the $500 to win special for the Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman and Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Clayton Homes Modifieds.

Dustin Linville and Dustin Neat would bring the “Junebug” Memorial field to the green flag, with Neat immediately jumping to the race lead, with Linville settling into second.  With Neat putting distance on the field, Johnny Wheeler and Michael Chilton would settle into a battle for the third position.  As the race wore on, Neat would eventually begin to lap slower traffic and put even more distance between himself and Linville, while Chilton would eventually win the battle for third with Wheeler.  Seventh starting Todd Coffman would slide into the top five as well and would begin to challenge Wheeler for the fourth position, taking the spot in the waning laps of the event.  But no one would challenge Neat over the course of the caution-free 30 lapper as “The Dust Buster” would park his Red Buck/Neat’s Service Center/Keltner Contracting/Southern Rayz Tanning sponsored #25 Longhorn Chassis, Vic Hill Race Engines powered mount in victory lane sporting a special paint scheme that supports a local Relay for Life effort.  Linville would take runner-up honors, with Chilton third, while Coffman and Wheeler completed the top five.  The remainder of the top ten would be Kevin Colston, Tommy Carlton, Wesley Brummett, Jeff Watson, and Clarence Belcher.  Eleven entries would see Coffman earn a $100 bonus courtesy of Colston Paving as the top qualifier at 14,337 seconds, while Linville and Neat would be Country 100.9 heat race winners.

The Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman main event would see Donnie Sullivan take the early race lead and hang on after a caution that set up a three lap shootout to the finish to capture the $500 special payday aboard his D&D Pallet Recyclers/Simple Sign and Decal/Crown Cuts of Stanford sponsored #1 Chevy Z28 Camaro.  Glen Hounshell, Jr. would claim a second place finish, while Eddie Stewart would nip Gerald Haynes, Jr. for the third position, with Shannon Scott completing the top five.  Twelve entries would see Haynes, Jr. earn a $100 bonus as the top qualifier at 16.511 seconds, with Haynes, Jr. and Sullivan taking checkered flags in the Central Painting heat race events.

Fourth place starting Elliott Despain would roll to second and challenge race leader Michael England throughout the middle stages of the Clayton Homes Modified feature event before taking the lead from England on lap 13 and pulling away to the victory in the Billy and Lisa Despain owned Knox Ford of Radcliff/Southern Indiana Rock Drilling/Lucas Oil Products/Chandler Electric/Family Eyecare/ SpeeDecals Vinyl Graphics/Swafford Signs/PRC/BSB Manufacturing/SEF by VP Fuels/K&N Filters/ Bilstein Shocks/Schoenfield Headers sponsored #75E Bandit Race Car powered by a Dale Meers Race Engine.  Tommy Bailey would slip past England with two laps remaining to score second, with Bailey third.  Don Adams and Billy Meredith would round out the top five.  Completing the top ten were Jeff Rawlings, Brad Schlosser, Whit Salyers, Jerry Pyles, and Stacey Decker.  Twelve entries would see Michael England earn a $100 bonus from Wayne Bowen Racing Supply as the fast qualifier at 15.264 seconds, with Smith Automotive Machine Shop heat wins going to England and Adams.
