(May 27, 2012) Greenwood, NE – John Anderson passed Chad Simpson just past the half way point of the $5,000 to win Alphabet Soup race, and was never challenged again, as he collected his third straight Lucas Oil MLRA win Sunday night at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE. Chad Simpson got a great start to the feature event, but slowly Anderson reeled in Simpson in lapped traffic. The two were vying for the lead exiting turn two when Simpson made contact with Brian Kenkel whom he was trying to put a lap down. The incident broke Simpson’s right rear bird cage.

“I had to cut good consistent laps tonight, said Anderson in AAA Missouri Victory Lane. “It’s a lot easier when you’re in second there to move around and hopefully find the line to get by.”

Kyle Berck continued to fine tune his new KBMR Chassis and finished second. It was his first appearance in a Lucas Oil MLRA event this season and only his sixth race overall. Simpson stuck it out with an ill handling car to finish third. Denny Eckrich started thirteenth and ran up to fourth place. Jason Rauen was the KRC Hard Charger advancing ten positions to finish fifth.

The three heat races were won by Justin Zeitner, Kyle Berck and John Anderson. Coming into the event Anderson was tied with Will Vaught for the championship point lead. With Sunday’s win, he took over sole possession of the top of the standings.

Next up for the Lucas Oil MLRA will be a pair of shows next weekend. Friday action will be fast and furious from Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS and Saturday will find the much anticipated return of Dirt Late Models to LA Raceway in La Monte, MO.
