DIRTcar Summer Nationals(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) It was a long week out on the road for the Wendell Wallace Autosports team, as they experienced everything from a broken axle on the transporter to a minor fender-bender in Chicago to a pair of runner-up finishes and most things in between. The team had hopes of starting out on the grueling UMP Summer Nationals tour, but the broken axle on the trailer following stop two at the Kankakee County (IL) Speedway on Thursday night, June 14 derailed those plans. Even with some of the issues off of the track, Wendell Wallace was still able to turn in two runner-up performances last week.

On Friday evening, Wendell won his heat race at the Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois and later led the early portion of the $1,500 to win UMP main event before finishing second behind only winner Rusty Schlenk. At the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin on Sunday night, Wendell laid down the fastest lap in his group during qualifying and later won his heat race before drawing the pole position for the $5,000 to win UMP Summer Nationals feature event. The Batesville, Arkansas native led the 40-lapper on a couple of different occasions before getting nipped at the finish line by winner Ryan Unzicker.

Below are Wendell’s finishes from last week in the Midwest. You can view a detailed race-by-race recap by pointing your web browser to www.wendellwallace.com.

Wendell and his #6m team are still out on the road this week and they have committed to entering the next four UMP Summer Nationals showdowns, if all goes well. The dirt-slinging action on the “Hell Tour” will continue tonight, June 19 at the Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois. Shown below are the dates that Wendell has confirmed for this week:
