World of Outlaws Late Model Series(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Defending and two-time ‘Firecracker 100’ winner Jimmy Mars and his #28 team returned to the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania for the 2012 version of the three-day mega-event from June 28-30. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series biggie drew a stellar 56 car field to the Keystone State speedplant. In the pair of $6,000 to win prelims, Jimmy ran third in his heat race and seventh in the 30-lapper on Thursday night, while he won his heat race prior to notching a sixth place effort in Friday’s 30-lap main event.

Following the two Top Ten performances, Jimmy had his sights set on yet another ‘Firecracker 100’ title on Saturday. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace grabbed the third transfer spot through his heat race and later rolled off starting from the outside of the seventh row in the $30,000 to win feature event. In front of the SPEED Channel cameras, Jimmy was running inside of the top ten around lap 65 when he was involved in a fender bender with another competitor. The incident caused Jimmy to retire from the 100-lapper and relegated him to a disappointing twentieth place finish. Complete results from the long weekend at Lernerville can be located online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.

The Mars Racing team will welcome the cars and stars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series to their area from July 6-14, as the national touring series will preside over the six-race “Wild West Tour.” Up first will be a trip to the AMSOIL Speedway in Superior, Wisconsin on Friday, July 6 for a $10,000 to win battle. From there, the “Wild West Tour” will snake through the states of Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota, as well as Canada. The upcoming schedule for the #28 team is shown below:
