DIRTcar Summer Nationals(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team thundered into the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on June 6-8 for the 19th Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream.’ The expanded format kicked off at the “Big E” on Thursday and Friday with Twin 25s. On Thursday night, Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action, but suffered a deflating tire in the $2,500 to win feature event and eventually retired in the eighteenth position. At the hallowed high-banks on Friday evening, Jimmy finished sixth in his heat race and second in his B-Main before climbing ten spots during the $5,000 to win main event to grab a solid tenth place effort.

The stakes definitely heightened on Saturday at the 1/2-mile facility, as a whopping $100,000 top prize was on the line. Jimmy took the win in heat race action and later rolled off from the inside of the second row in the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace, looking for his second ‘Dream’ title, took the lead on lap 23 and paced the stellar field up until lap 65. Struggles on a couple of late race restarts dropped Jimmy back to a sixth place finish in the extra distance affair, as he crossed underneath the checkers behind only winner Scott Bloomquist, Dennis Erb, Jr., Brian Birkhofer, Dale McDowell, and Jimmy Owens. Full results from the long weekend at Eldora Speedway can be viewed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Next up for the Mars Racing team will be a relatively short trip to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin on June 14-15 for the 15th Annual ‘Masters’ weekend. The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour will once again invade CLS to sanction a pair of high-profile events. Friday’s complete show boasts a $5,000 winner’s check, while a $10,000 payday will be up for grabs on Saturday.
