(June 21, 2013) Humboldt, KS – Heading into Friday’s Lucas Oil MLRA stop at Humboldt Speedway, Jesse Stovall had been on winless streak longer than he cared to think about. With the conclusion of the thirty lap main event, it was all a thing of the past for the talented racer from Billings, Missouri. Firing from the outside pole, Stovall jumped out front and never relinquished the lead. His performance netted him the $3,000 top prize.

“It’s a lot harder to stand on top of that hill than it is to stand at the bottom and look up,” said Stovall comparing his outstanding 2012 season to his start of the 2013 season. “I was getting awful frustrated. It’s been along hard fought battle with Scott Bailey helping me. This is kind of a new deal here, JSR Victory Circle has been a little bit or a pain. I just can’t thank him (Bailey) enough for all of the hard work. It’s pretty amazing to come here tonight, and be as bad as we were, and now be in victory lane.”

Behind Stovall there were plenty of capable drivers ready to pounce if he slipped up. Brad Looney and Tony Jackson Jr. went back and forth for a number of laps. Late in the race Jackson got into the wall on the front stretch, and the contact cost him his momentum and a shot at regaining the runner up spot. Mark Dotson and Ryan Gustin filled out the balance of the top five. Two yellows slowed the pace, as did a red flag for Corey Zeitner who turned over in turn four. He was uninjured.

Tomorrow night the Lucas Oil MLRA heads to Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, KS for the second stop of the weekend. Last year’s race was one fans still talk about. Terry Phillips came out on top, after a spirited race with John Anderson. The gates open at 5:00 PM, with hot laps scheduled for 7:00 PM, with racing to follow. Adult admission is just $15, with kids 12 and under free.
