DIRTcar Summer Nationals(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team racked up their fourth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph of 2013 on Thursday night, June 20 in their first visit to the Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia! Dennis timed in fourth quickest during the qualifying session and later ran second in heat race action. After rolling off from the outside of the second row in the 50-lap feature event, Dennis grabbed the point on lap 33 and never looked back. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace picked up the $10,000 payday over Earl Pearson, Jr., Jared Landers, Don O’Neal, and Steve Francis!

On Friday evening, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series took the Dennis Erb Racing team to the legendary Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina for the annual running of the ‘Grassy Smith Memorial.’ Dennis ran third in his heat race prior to picking off six competitors during the $10,000 to win A-Main en route to a third place performance behind only winner Chris Madden and runner-up Steve Francis. Saturday’s stop at the picturesque Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia then wrapped up the tripleheader weekend. Dennis finished fourth in his heat race and later drove his Team Zero by Bloomquist racecar to a ninth place effort in the $10,000 to win ‘Blue Ridge 50.’ Complete results from the triple shot of LOLMDS competition can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

“We had a good weekend in the Southeast, obviously highlighted by that win at Swainsboro,” commented Erb, who currently finds himself fifth in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings. “I told (crew chief) Heather (Lyne) early in the night that I thought Swainsboro looked like my kind of racetrack and it turned out that our car performed really well all night. Then at Cherokee, we had a freak deal during hot laps that severed a line going to the motor, so we had to bring out a backup car. Things turned out well that night, as we raced up to third, but we were under-powered at Wythe on Saturday. So, to leave Wythe with a top ten without our big motor, we will take it and get ready to run some Summer Nationals races this week!”

With the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series taking a hiatus this week, Dennis plans to tackle five UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals shows in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Illinois from June 26-30. Things will kick off tonight with a visit to the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee, a place where Dennis picked up the $7,500 win last year on the “Hell Tour.” You can watch the #28 team in action at the following venues this week:

June 26 | Clarksville (TN) Speedway, Summer Nationals | $5,000 to win
June 27 | Clayhill (TN) Motorsports, Summer Nationals | $5,000 to win
June 28 | Paducah (KY) Int’l Raceway, Summer Nationals | $10,000 to win
June 29 | Federated Raceway (MO) at I-55, Summer Nationals | $10,000 to win
June 30 | Lincoln (IL) Speedway, Summer Nationals | $10,000 to win
