World of Outlaws Late Model SeriesSHINNSTON, W.Va (September 24, 2013) – A fresh Valvoline-sponsored Rocket Chassis car and Roush Yates engine carried Josh Richards to a solid fourth-place finish in last Saturday night’s Keyser Manufacturing Down & Dirty 75 at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich., moving him closer to a third career World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship.

With a steady run at the 7/16-mile asphalt track that was covered with clay for the special event, Richards, 25, of Shinnston, W.Va., registered his series-leading 30th top-five finish of 2013 and ended the evening leading the WoO LMS standings by a commanding 106 points with just four races remaining on the schedule.

Though he wasn’t satisfied with just a fourth-place finish, Richards was happy with the result’s positive impact on the point standings.

“We have to look at the big picture, and finishing fourth was another great points night for us and keeps us moving toward our goal of winning the championship,” said Richards. “We also ran a new car and a new motor and I was really happy with (the combination) the first night out. I feel like we have a car that we can really race the rest of the year.”

Next on Richards’s schedule is a trip to the famed Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway this weekend for the 10th annual Knoxville Late Model Nationals. He will enter preliminary events on Thursday and Friday (September 26-27) and the 100-lap Nationals finale on Saturday (September 28).
