world-finals(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) Rick Eckert, of York, Pennsylvania, racked up his third ‘National 100’ title in exciting fashion on Sunday evening, November 3 at the storied East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama! Making his first trip to EAMS since 2006, Rick started his weekend on Saturday by posting the sixth quickest lap of the 40 entrants during Super Late Model qualifying and later scoring the win in his heat race. “Scrub” bested William Thomas, Jonathan Davenport, Dennis Erb, Jr., and Chris Madden in his prelim to earn the outside front row starting spot for Sunday’s 100-lap headliner.

During the course of the ‘National 100,’ Rick ran third early in the race, but was back up to second by the halfway mark of the unsanctioned event. Rick then hounded leader Tim McCreadie and eventually made a daring outside pass coming off turn four, as the leaders raced towards the white flag. He had the lead by the flagstand and pulled away on the final circuit to claim the $20,100 payday. Rick beat McCreadie, Scott Bloomquist, Randy Weaver, and Chris Madden to the checkers to bag his eighth Dirt Late Model triumph of the 2013 campaign! Full results from East Alabama Motor Speedway can be accessed online at www.eamsdirt.com.

“We have run second so many times this year and that is what I kept thinking about as the race wore on,” Eckert stated earlier today via telephone from Eric Jacobsen’s Tennessee race shop. “Tim (McCreadie) started to fade a little at the end and my stuff just kept digging. I was barely able to get enough room coming off of turn four heading to the white flag to get to Timmy’s outside and make the pass work. I just love racing at East Alabama Motor Speedway – the track has some neat characteristics and I guess it fits my driving style. There are so many people to thank – my family, crew, fans, sponsors, product supporters and I really can’t thank Eric Jacobsen enough. He gave us one of his engines to run at EAMS and he has meant so much to my race team the past several years!”

Following the huge win in Alabama, the #24 team will now turn their focus to the pristine Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina on November 7-9 for the annual running of the ‘World Finals.’ World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying will kick things off on Thursday night, with the first round applying to Friday’s card and the second round of time trials transferring to Saturday’s program. A $12,000 winner’s check will be on the line on both Friday and Saturday at the 4/10-mile speedplant, while each feature starter will receive at least $1,000.

Rick currently sits fourth in the WOOLMS point standings heading into the final two races – 76 points behind Shane Clanton and 80 markers in arrears of Darrell Lanigan. The 2011 WOOLMS National Champion is in no danger of losing the $35,000 fourth-place slot; however, as he leads fifth place Tim McCreadie by a resounding margin of 290 points. Additional information on the World of Outlaws ‘World Finals,’ which will also feature the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series, can be obtained by pointing your web browser to www.worldofoutlaws.com.

Rick would like to thank the following sponsors for their commitment to his race team: In Loving Memory of Raye Vest, J&K Salvage, Ritchey Sandblasting, Allstar Performance, Bloomquist Race Cars, Jay D1ckens Racing Engines, Eckert Trucking, S&S Mobile Power Wash, AFCO Racing Products, All About Doors, All About Wraps, Arizona Sport Shirts, Awesome Racewear, Bahia Service Center, Bell Helmets, Beyea Headers, Callies, Comp Cams, Delph Communications, Dyer’s Top Rods, Fatheadz Eyewear, FK Rod Ends, Heintz Bros.
