Lucas Oil Late Model Series(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team entered their first two Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events of the young 2014 racing season on May 2-3 in the states of Illinois and Kentucky. On Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Jimmy Mars timed in tenth fastest in Group B during the qualifying session prior to grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the eighth row in the $10,000 to win main event, Jimmy was unfortunately involved in a tangle on a lap 21 restart and was eventually placed nineteenth in the final rundown of the 50-lapper.

On Saturday evening, the dirt-slinging action shifted to Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky, as another $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Jimmy clicked off the second quickest lap in Group B during time trials and later scored the win in heat race action over Earl Pearson, Jr., Bobby Pierce, and Randy Korte. The Menomonie, Wisconsin native started the 50-lap feature from the outside of the second row, but a wrong tire selection dropped Jimmy to a twentieth place effort at PIR. Complete results from the LOLMDS doubleheader can be viewed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

Jimmy and his #28 team have elected not to hit the road over the upcoming May 9-10 weekend, but will instead travel literally right down the street to Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin on Friday night. The 2014 season will kick off at the 3/8-mile oval in the Dunn County Rec Park tomorrow evening and a regular show is on tap for the WISSOTA Late Models. Additional information on the season-opening program at Red Cedar Speedway can be accessed by logging onto www.redcedarspeedway.com.
