La Salle Speedway(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team took advantage of an idle weekend for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on May 9-10 to compete in a pair of American Late Model Series (ALMS) showdowns in the Land of Lincoln. On Friday night, a $2,000 top prize was on the line at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois. Dennis Erb, Jr. laid down the ninth fastest lap during the ALMS qualifying session at the 1/3-mile Kankakee County fairgrounds oval and later finished sixth in his loaded heat race. After starting the 40-lap feature event from the inside of the sixth row, Dennis blasted past nine competitors during the caution-plagued race en route to a stellar runner-up performance behind only race winner Bobby Pierce.

The ALMS doubleheader then wrapped up on Saturday evening at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois with another $2,000 to win program. Dennis posted the seventh quickest time during qualifying prior to scoring the win in heat race action. After rolling off from the outside of the front row in the 30-lap main event, the Carpentersville, Illinois standout paced the strong field for the first twenty circuits. At the checkers, Dennis found himself in the third spot behind only victor Bobby Pierce and runner-up Kevin Weaver. Complete results from both weekend races can be found online at www.americanlatemodelseries.com.

Next up for the #28 team will be a visit to LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois on May 16-17 for the two-day ‘Spring Shootout.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over the pair of $10,000 to win events, which will both be jammed packed with time trials, heat races, consolation events, and a 50-lap feature. Dennis comes into the doubleheader on Friday and Saturday at LaSalle tenth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings.
