FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Muskogee, OK (May 17/014) – Saturday’s Lucas Oil MLRA finale at Outlaw Motorsports Park in Muskogee, OK was another showing of just how strong Billy Moyer is behind the wheel. He paced Travis Dickes for the first couple of circuits before a restart bunched the field. Moyer chose the highside and Dickes left it open when the green waved. From that point there was little doubt Moyer was going to be denied. When the race’s final yellow waved on lap 23 for Will Vaught, Moyer was nearly a straightaway ahead.

“It felt like we had a pretty good hot rod there,” stated Moyer standing in RACEceiver Victory Lane for the 780th time in his Hall of Fame career. “That restart come out he (Dickes) kind of liked the bottom it looked like. It was way early in the race. There was a lot of good track left up there on top at that time for sure. I just elected to go up there and give it a shot. It stuck good and away we went.”

With the race win never really in question, a slew of cars worked behind the leader. Terry Phillips was once again right up there, as was Chad Simpson. On the race’s final circuit, Phillips passed Simpson to finish in the runner up spot for the second straight night.

“My car seems to come on toward the end of the race,” stated Phillips. “I got to figure that out for little short races, or quit running with Billy Moyer. We had a new car. This is the second time I’ve run it. We’ll get it figured out.”

Chad Simpson’s third place run now gives him seven top five finishes in the series first eight races of the year. In the early stages it looked like Simpson might have been in a bad spot .

“Will got in there, and got kind of hot, and kind of got sideways a little bit,” said Simpson after surveying the nose damage on his Rocket. “I was right on the outside of him. He just swung his tail out and I hooked him. Just a racing deal. It happens. The car is coming around. We keep working on it. It’s getting better.”

Travis Dickes and Jeremy Payne completed the remainder of the top five. Three yellows slowed the pace of the race. Through eight races this season, there have been eight different winners.
