DIRTcar(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Jason Riggs made a late week decision to change his schedule plans and instead opted to head to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky on Saturday evening, September 20. The UMP DIRTcar Series presided over a special $3,000 to win program at the newly reopened facility. Jason laid down the fifth quickest lap during the qualifying session and later placed second in heat race action. After starting the 35-lap headliner from the inside of the third row, Jason moved all the way up to second before settling for a solid third place effort behind only victor Billy Moyer and runner-up Rodney Melvin. Full results from KLMS can be accessed online at www.klmsllc.com.

The Riggs Motorsports team, made up of Jason Riggs and Brian Shirley, will travel in different directions this upcoming weekend. Jason will take his #81jr team to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana on Saturday, September 27 for a visit by the American Late Model Series (ALMS). The single-day showdown at the pristine southwestern Indiana venue will pay $2,000 to the winner. Additional information on this race can be viewed by clicking on www.tristatespeedway.com.

Brian, on the other hand, will make the trip to the Hawkeye State from September 25-27 for the 11th Annual ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ at the hallowed grounds of Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again sanction all of the dirt-slinging action at the 1/2-mile Marion County Fairgrounds oval. The three-day crown jewel event will start later tonight and Friday with a pair of preliminary events, each of which will be capped off with a 25-lap sprint paying $7,000 to the winner.

The culmination of the ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ will then take place on the black dirt on Saturday evening and a whopping $40,000 top prize will be on the line. Saturday’s lineup includes a D-Main, C-Main, B-Main, and the 100-lap ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.’ The award winning Lucas Oil Production Studios will be on hand to film this mega-event that will air on both NBC Sports and the MAVTV American Real Networks in 2014. Brian won the headliner at Knoxville in dramatic fashion back in 2006 and will be gunning for his second race title this weekend.
