Zebulon, Georgia (12/01/14) – Shane made a trip to Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia) over the weekend for the annual Gobbler 100 at the 1/2 mile oval in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital Race Car Late Model, and he came away with the $10,000 winner’s check.
The two-day, $10,000-to-win program for Limited Late Models saw a field of twenty-four entries register for battle. Shane starting his outing by posting the third fastest lap in time trials on Friday night, sending him to the dash. A second place finish in the dash positioned him starting outside-front-row for Saturday’s 50 lap finale.
When the race went green, Clanton out-dueled pole-sitter, Wil Herrington to lead the opening lap. From there, Shane turned back some early challenges from Herrington before going on to register the flag-to-flag victory over Hunter Peacock, Blake Smith, Herrington and Kelly Walker.
“It was awesome to put a wrap on the 2014 season with a big win,” said Clanton. “I definitely have to thank Kelly Walker for loaning me a motor to run in the event, and I want to thank my great sponsors including Weldbank Energy, Capital Race Cars, Hornburg Oil, Penn Gold Well Services, and everybody that helps on this hot rod.”
