WHEATLAND, Mo. (July 13, 2020) – The biggest Late Model weekend of Lucas Oil Speedway’s season is days away, with a double dose of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil MLRA rolling into south-central Missouri on back-to-back nights.

First up is the 28th annual Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtecttheHarvest.com on Saturday night. The $20,000-to-win, 100-lap dirt-racing crown jewel event is condensed to a one-night show after the scheduled three-night Memorial Day Weekend program was postponed due to the COVID-19 virus.

Then on Sunday night, it’s the 14th annual CMH Diamond Nationals Presented by Super Clean, with $12,000 and a diamond ring going to the 60-lap feature winner.

“We’re excited to celebrate the Show-Me 100 again, even in a condensed form,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. “It’s been a long time since we last crowned a Show-Me 100 winner and it will be great to do so again, then turn around and have another big one with the Diamond Nationals the next night.”

The 2019 edition of the Show-Me 100 was canceled after a storm with tornado-like winds damaged the speedway just three days before the event was scheduled to begin. Two runnings of the Diamond Nationals were contested last July, with Jonathan Davenport and Jimmy Owens coming home the feature winners.

Owens, the veteran driver from Newport, Tennessee, figures to be the man to beat as he often is at Lucas Oil Speedway. Owens has won five recent Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events and, entering Monday night’s series event at 300 Raceway in Farley, Iowa, held a 410-point lead over Davenport and a 456-point advantage over Tim McCreadie atop series standings.

Owens has four Show-Me 100 wins and four total Diamond Nationals triumphs at Lucas Oil Speedway.

On the Lucas Oil MLRA side, Republic’s Payton Looney has surged to a 110-point lead over Chad Simpson after two recent feature victories.

Door Panel Auction returns Saturday: Ron Mitchell’s annual “Doors for a Cure” Door Panel Auction, a tradition at the Show-Me 100, will return on Saturday on the hillside between the front gate and main grandstands. Mitchell, a long-time southwest Missouri racing photographer, has been doing the silent auction for several years during the Show-Me 100 with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. He expects to have at least 60 door panels, from various local, regional and national drivers, available for bid.

Super Clean giveaway: At Sunday’s Diamond Nationals, a free 32-ounce bottle of Super Clean will be given away to the first 250 people through the gates.

Both Saturday and Sunday, gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and time trials at 7:05. Campers are reminded that only dry camping spots, at $10 per night, remain.
