WHEATLAND, MO. (Oct. 23, 2023) – Since Lucas Oil Speedway added a big finish to its season headlined by the Lucas Oil MLRA, extra money has been added to support divisions for this Saturday night’s program.

The MLRA Season Finale for the Late Models has $10,000 awaiting the winner and $700 to start the main event. The Season Finale was added to the schedule after the series’ Championship Weekend was rained out at Tri-City Speedway.

Added money also will be awarded in the support classes. Hickamo Country Store owner Chip Shaddox is helping sponsor the USRA Modified class and it will now race for $2,000 to win and $100 has been added to finishers two through 11. The Modified payout now will be:

1st – $2,000. 2nd – $900. 3rd – $800. 4th – $700. 5th – $550. 6th – $400. 7th – $350. 8th – $300. 9th – $275. 10th – $250. 11th – $230. 12th – $120. 13th – $110. 14th-through-24th – $100.

Meanwhile, it was previously announced that Whitetail Trophy Hunt will sponsor the POWRi Super Stocks portion and the feature winner will earn $2,000, courtesy of Craig Danuser with Whitetail Trophy Hunt. Nitro Nick Motorsports also has added money to Super Stock positions 18th, 20th, 22nd and 24th. The Super Stock payout will be:

1st – $2,000. 2nd – $800. 3rd – $700. 4th – $600. 5th – $450. 6th – $300. 7th – $250. 8th – $200. 9th – $175. 10th – $150. 11th – $130. 12th – $120. 13th – $110. 14th-17th- $100. 18th – $150. 19th – $100. 20th – $150. 21st – $100. 22nd – $150. 23rd – $100. 24th – $150.

Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton also has announced that David Hendrix, owner of Hendrix Construction, will sponsor the fast time qualifier for the Super Stocks. The driver to set fast time in qualifying will receive $500 for Fast Time Qualifier thanks to Hendrix Construction.

“We appreciate everyone who has stepped up to add to the prize fund for the Super Stocks and Modifieds,” Lorton said. “This is shaping up to be a great way to conclude the season, with great fields in each of our divisions.”

Both support classes will use time trials for heat-race starting positions just like the MLRA Late Models will do.

With previously scheduled events already filling up the October calendar at Tri-City, officials concluded that a make-up weekend at the home of the MLRA Championship would not be possible. So the MLRA finale now becomes a one-day event with the season champion crowned.

It also will mark the final opportunity of 2023 for drivers to accumulate MLRA points toward the series championship, Sunoco Rookie of the Year, as well as the season-long contingency awards, some of which are still up for grabs.

Chad Simpson and Chris Simpson will enter the Wheatland race as the top two drivers in the series standings with Chad leading his brother by 270 points. Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate Dillon McCowan is in third. Daniel Hilsabeck and Trevor Gundaker are fourth and fifth with Justin Duty, Jeff Herzog, Garrett Alberson, Tyler Stevens and Dustin Hodges rounding out the top 10.

Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. with grandstands at 4, hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6:05.
