Colcord, OK (May 24, 2024) – On a night when it looked like dark skies and a bad weather forecast would ruin the opening night of the Joe Duvall Funkadelic Dirt Track and Honky Tonk Extravaganza at Arrowhead Speedway, Chad Wheeler reigned supreme atop the 1/3 mile black clay oval in Colcord, OK.

This event was the first time the USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motorsports and USRA Heartland Modified Tour presented by Real Racing Wheels went head to head.

Starting on the outside of row one, Wheeler battled hard with fellow Oklahoman Jared Russell as the pair traded the lead multiple times over the first seven circuits. Russell took the lead and looked to settle in, but a hard charging Tyler Wolff had other plans. By lap 15, Wolff stole the lead from Russel on the extreme low part of the racetrack exiting turn four.

Undeterred running a close third, Wheeler stuck to the top side of the speedway while Wolff dueled with Russell as lap traffic approached. The approach paid off when a clogged bottom lane allowed Wheeler to take the lead back on lap 20. Wheeler led the rest of the way, but not without challenge from Wolff.  At the end, an ecstatic Wheeler celebrated victory for the second year in a row at Arrowhead Speedway.

The five heat race winners on the evening were Russell, Henry Chambers, Tate Cole, Boone Evans, and Brendon Gemmill.

Saturday the tours move west to Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma, for Duvall’s second stop on his weekend twin bill. The show will be carried live on RacinDirt for those unable to make it to the track.
